Deuteron yields from heavy-ion collisions at energies available at the CERN Large Hadron Collider: Continuum correlations and in-medium effects

چکیده

To explain the production of light nuclei in heavy-ion collisions at extreme energies, we focus on deuteron case. A Gibbs ensemble chemical freeze-out is a prerequisite to investigate non-equilibrium evolution expanding fireball. Quantum statistical approaches allow describe correlations including bound state formation strongly interacting and hot system. We consider virial approach evaluate proton-neutron correlations. In generalization treatment protons pionic matter (pion-proton puzzle), influence pion environment deuteron-like evaluated using data for pion-deuteron scattering phase shifts. Calculated yields are compared with ones observed LHC.

Heavy-ion physics with the ALICE experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.

After close to 20 years of preparation, the dedicated heavy-ion experiment A Large Ion Collider Experiment (ALICE) took first data at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) accelerator with proton collisions at the end of 2009 and with lead nuclei at the end of 2010. After a short introduction into the physics of ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions, this article recalls the main design choice...

Heavy-Ion Collisions at the Dawn of the Large Hadron Collider Era

In this paper I present a review of the main topics associated with the study of heavy-ion collisions, intended for students starting or interested in the field. It is impossible to summarize in a few pages the large amount of information that is available today, after a decade of operations of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and the beginning of operations at the Large Hadron Collider. Thu...

Thermal photons and collective flow at energies available at the BNL Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider

We update our calculations of thermal-photon production in nuclear collisions at the BNL Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC). Specifically, we address the recent experimental observation of an elliptic flow of direct photons comparable in magnitude to that of pions, which is at variance with expectations based on quark-gluon plasma (QGP) dominated photon radiation. Our thermal emission rate ...

Excited Leptons at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

We analyze the potential of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to search for excited spin-12 electrons and neutrinos. Assuming a SU(2)L⊗U(1)Y invariant model, we study in detail the single production of excited electrons and neutrinos and respective backgrounds through the reactions pp → e+e−V and e±νV with V = γ, W , or Z. We show that the LHC will be able to tighten considerably the direct ...
